"This statewide study provides compelling evidence that the physical well-being of students has a direct impact on their ability to achieve academically. We now have the proof we've been looking for: students achieve best when they are physically fit."

Delaine Eastin, Former State Superintendent of Schools

Study info: Reading and math scores from the Standard Achievement Test, Ninth Edition (SAT-9) were matched to fitness scores from the Fitnessgram of 353,000 fifth graders, 322,000 seventh graders, and 279,000 ninth graders. Focus Moves Developmental Levels Preschool, 1, 2, and 3

Sample Focus Moves 3 Poster

Focus Moves Developmental Level 1 is a fun, integrative program that improves children's ability to focus. This program is implemented without any equipment. Simply place the posters on the wall, white board, or foam board and begin the activities.

Focus Moves posters are great for
• transitions throughout the day
• literacy center warm-ups
• free choice activities
• physical education sessions (aligned with California K-2 physical education standards)

Poster activities enhance focus for the following body systems:
• postural
• sensory
• visual
• auditory-visual integration

In addition, posters strengthen return sweep, laterality, and directionality which are essential for fluid reading. Spatial awareness is enhanced leading to improvement in math skills for children with poor spatial awareness. Here at S'cool Moves, we say, "Math is a spatial sport!"

The set of 10 posters are printed in black and white on 11 x 17 high quality photo paper. We recommend posters are laminated upon receipt so they can be used year after year. Posters may be colored before laminating for children who need more visual input to follow the activities. The set comes with an instructional dvd and complete instruction booklet.

Focus Moves Developmental Level 2
Increase the challenge by taking your students to the next level. We are often asked, "What level should I get for a specific grade?" Our posters are developmental and not grade specific. We've seen fifth grade students who couldn't do the basic Level 1 activities. We recommend students go through all the posters in level 1 before moving onto level 2. Older students may master level 1 activities faster than younger students. The posters build on key developmental stages that all students need for academic, emotional, and behavioral success. Level 2 posters are printed in black and white on 11 x 17 high quality photo paper.

Focus Moves Developmental Level 3
We recommend older students go through level 2 posters before beginning level 3. Core posture strength is critical for focus control. Focus Moves Level 2 activities ensure that all students build from this essential postural foundation. Level 3 posters assume core stability. Level 3 posters are printed in color on 11 x 17 high quality photo paper. The activities were developed by a high school teacher and her students. The high school students demonstrate the activities and narrate the instructional dvd. Poster instructions come with each poster for a total of 21 posters per set.
